Attached is the list of Over candidates. Please use this form to determine who you would like to participate in the Over/Under game as an Over player. All Board members have 20 votes each to select from this list. You can vote as many times as you like for any candidate but you can use no more than 20 votes altogether. If you prefer to call me about your selection, the number is 818-370-0977. Or, you can send me your form via email to richardhalverstadt(a)sbcglobal.net. Otherwise, you can tell me about your votes at tonight's meeting.
After we have all voted, I will merge the results to come up with a prioritized list of Over candidates. Thanks
Richard

Good morning Board,
We would like to have a Board meeting this Monday June 19th at 7 PM to discuss and vote on Overs for the Over/Under game in July. We do not have a Unit game in July and the first Monday is a holiday weekend so this would be a good time to get this done.
Please let me know if you are available and I will send out an agenda on Friday. This will be a short meeting but important to get this done.
Linda, can you send me minutes and Miriam, can you give either Richard or Roy a copy of the financials on Sunday so they can be sent to all the Board before the meeting.
Many thanks to each of you for your service.
Lisa
Peter passed away on Tuesday.
I would like to suggest that we find a way to remember him, as he was active in our unit and in the district for over 40 years.
I would also like to request that the board authorize Mojo to send a district-wide notice of his passing.
Peter and I were partners for about 22 years, and he was my mentor…. I will miss him!
Roy
I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.
Attached is a draft list of candidates for Overs in the Over/Under game to be held July 23rd. This list includes candidates who are Life Masters and who have social skills that would be supportive and educational to Under players who are paired with them. We will be voting for a prioritized list of candidates at our next meeting. Therefore, please send me additional candidates to add to this list by 7:00 pm Sunday evening so I can create a final list for our meeting. I will send out the final list on Sunday after 7:00 pm.
At the meeting we will use the multivoting system to establish a prioritized list of candidates. Each member of the Board will be given 20 votes that he/she can use to vote for candidates on the list. You may vote for a candidate as many times as you like but you can only use 20 votes altogether. If you prefer, you can prepare your votes and email (or call me) beforehand to cast your votes (818-370-0977).
Thanks,
Richard
There has been some discussion on how we will select players to serve as Overs in the Over/Under game on July 23rd. Below is my proposal for how we compile the list. Please think about this procedure and bring your ideas to our next Board meeting. Of course you are free to contact me beforehand if you have any thoughts.
- Board members submit names of players who should be considered for the list. (I think we should place some qualifications on who would qualify. In particular I believe nominees should be a life master. And, the people we nominate should have the social skills to work with and teach their partners.) I will be the recipient of all nominations so I can compile the list from which we select the Overs.
- The Over/Under Coordinator compiles a list of all nominees.
- The Board participates in multivoting to select the nominees: each Board member is given 20 votes that they can use to nominate candidates on the list. The Board members can place one or more votes with any candidate but they are only allowed to use 20 votes in all.
- The Over/Under Coordinator will tally the votes and prepare a prioritized list of Over candidates.
- After it is known how many Unders have signed up for the game, we will use the prioritized list of Overs and call them to ask them to participate in the Over/Under game.
- Once we have established the list of all Overs for the game, I will send out an email with some helpful hints on how the Overs can best help the Unders.
Please be prepared to discuss the above procedure at our next Board meeting. We will also need to create a schedule for dates when each step of the procedure is completed.
thanks
Richard
I put in an application in TourneyTrax to hold a sectional on July
27-28, 2024, using the Pasadena Bridge Club as the venue.
I have not yet applied to reserve the Community Room for those dates.
I'd like to see if it passes muster with ACBL first. It seems like a
decent weekend.
