Don, The two attachments marked Roy were only supposed to go directly to him as he requested larger font. You are more than welcome to work with Pat to update the one that has the picture. They show a lot of thought and effort. However, the number of capitalized words is unnecessary and very distracting (looks like the CAPS LOCK got stuck here and there). I’d reserve caps for special terms and words to which we want to bring particular attention. Alternatively, we could just capitalize everything………. I did proposed revisions on two of the four attachments (attached) which you can review, assess, and comment on for what they are worth. Don Donald K. No, this is not a problem caused by an aging computer nor an aging webmaster. Frontier, my internet service provider, is at fault —- AGAIN! They caused the last one and several others in the past and they also responsible for this one, and won’t send a tech until next Tuesday. Roy I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.

Any adjustment to the flyer, i.e., adding Paula as an Assistant Director? This wi enable us to keep the full MP awards and also make it much easier on the directors. We have not heard that Paula is willing to do this yet, but I will keep you informed. This is much easier on our directors, as the TD signs everyone in and takes care or all payments, etc. Thanks for all your quick responses this morning. Don't like the cut in MP's. Will caddies be any help? On June 17, 2024, at 9:55 AM, Morris Jones <mojo(a)pasadenabridgeclub.com> wrote: There's more information to consider. First, John Coulombe is from San Marcos in northern San Diego county. We're on the hook for mileage (I didn't find out $/mi) and hotel. John has already spent about $200 for a Pasadena hotel room. Either way, this is way below my nightmares of him flying from somewhere. So we may not be looking at as much of a savings as I thought, especially at this point, where he's already spent the hotel money. And again, another cost of switching is that the masterpoint awards get cut to 80% of a full sectional. If we kept our sectional a Championship event, I might suggest hiring Paula (if she's willing) so we have two assistants. That would leave one of us to do things like duplicate boards for the next session (we need four board sets each session!). That would add $400 I think. Sectional

Dear Board, We have an opportunity to engage a local sectional director rather than a national director for our sectional. I received a notice from the ACBL a few days ago notifying our unit that local sectional directors can be used. There are a few restrictions, the most important one being that we cannot have more than 25 tables. We qualify for all the other restrictions. The other is that we will be giving out slightly less MP to thewinners because we are not using a national director. The benefit is that the cost is substantially less. A national director will be around $2500 according to MoJo and a local director will be around $600. MoJo has already contact Paula Olivares and she has agreed to be the local director for us if we would like to take this avenue. This is a Board decision and since we do not have a meeting until July 8, I need your consent to move forward in this way. MoJo does not believe the table restriction will be an issue since we are space challenged anyway, and the cost savings are significant. Please reply all and email me your vote on this question ASAP. Many thanks for your work for the Board. Lisa Sent from my iPad

Corrected Pasadena bridge news column
by Morris Jones 07 Jun '24

07 Jun '24

Please review for errors and omissions! Oops, I got the rank changes wrong. These were last month's. Here's a correction ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pasadena San Gabriel Unit Things have been hopping at the Pasadena Bridge Club. The club is now open six days a week plus every other Sunday. The club is planning to close on July 2, 3, and 4, that's Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, during the Long Beach Regional. We'll have our regularly scheduled games on the other days. Unit Games are held every other Sunday, though in July, the game on the 7th will not be held so players can join the final day of events at the regional. Our July game will be on July 21 at 12:30. Please contact Miriam Harrington, (626) 232-0558 or miratpf(a)aol.com, or Mojo or Zachary at the bridge club to reserve your seat. (If you're already a unit game player, you can book your seat directly on RSVP Bridge as well.) With turnout being around 14 tables now, reservations become very important! The Pasadena Sectional is returning this year with four great pairs games on Saturday and Sunday, July 27 and 28. Space is very limited, and reservations are required! To reserve your seats for the sectional using RSVPBridge, you and your partner can join the tournament using this URL: https://www.rsvpbridge.com/join/PasadenaSectional2024 then sign up for specific events. Note that this is significantly easier when both partners have joined the group before signing up. Unit game winners for May: * May 5 o N/S Cathryn Martin, Diana Borgatti o E/W Robert Shore, Kevin Lane * May 19 o N/S Karen Arase, Gitta Earll o E/W Rae Murbach, Jerry Murbach Rank changes for May, congratulations to all! * Regional Master o Jonathan Fuhrman o Susan Kane * NABC Master o Michael J Connell o Robert S Jennings -- build message Morris "Mojo" Jones mojo(a)PasadenaBridgeClub.com https://PasadenaBridgeClub.com <https://pasadenabridgeclub.com> Pasadena Bridge Club <https://pasadenabridgeclub.com>
