Here are preliminary table counts
45 tables in 2 sessions on Saturday.
17 tables for team play.
Obviously we need more snacks and drinks for Saturday. We should plan for 200 people. Total possible is 31 tables per session

Hey unit board and friends,
You'll want to set up the bridge club for the sectional on the evening
of Friday, August 22. Since it requires quite a bit of hefting and
rearranging, I'm copying Milo in the hopes they'll be available to help
out. (Milo you might even ask Aiden to come help.)
The community room might be in use on Friday during the day, so there's
no guarantee that you'll be able to get in before the early evening. You
can start on the main bridge club before then. I'll cancel "social
bridge" for Friday afternoon.
In the main bridge club, we need to reconfigure the room from 11 tables
to 14 tables by re-inserting the fourth row of tables. This is generally
the way to accomplish it:
* It's much easier to measure and place the tables when they don't
have tablecloths, bidding boxes, and chairs in the way. So my
procedure would be to set aside the bidding boxes and table cloths
in the classroom, along with stacking and moving any chairs out of
the way. Corner tables might not get too much in the way.
* Place an anchor table near the timing clock. Give it adequate space
from the window and supply table.
* Use the long tape measure, and place three additional tables in line
away from the windows, toward the PA. Space them edge to edge at
exactly eight feet.
* Use the long tape measure, and place three tables along the windows
on an 8'0 spacing, toward the director's desk.
* Fill in the grid, lining up tables with the base row and column.
Tables should match up in line.
* Replace tablecloths, chairs, bidding boxes, and side tables. (Do
quality control on the bid boxes and tablecloths.)
After doing this, along the windows will be four tables, the next row
five, the two rows of three. Adjust the placement of the director's desk
if you need to. (You probably won't.)
Move the coat rack out of the club and into the lobby space. Empty the
"lost and found" and use the corner tables. Move the rolling white board
out to the lobby for Brandon to use.
In the Community Room, you'll do the same thing, with four rows of three
tables (12 total), but you should have room to use 8'6" spacing from
edge to edge. Set up chairs and bidding boxes.
In the lobby, you'll set up a desk for Brandon. Take an extension cord
from the kitchen, and route it from the wall socket near the window,
above the bridge club doors, to the right of the bridge club. Secure it
with duct tape. Use one of the long folding tables from the community
room for Brandon's desk.
There should be plenty of bidding boxes, bridgemates, pencils, etc.
We'll need to sharpen up a bunch more pencils.
I'll ask Brandon to bring a spare round timer for the community room.
Here's the final word: Friday August 22 is my second chemo infusion
date. I have no idea what condition I'll be in, but assume I won't be
available.
Cheers,
Mojo

I went ahead and ordered the usual four pizzas for pickup at 11:45
tomorrow. It'd be good if someone from the board would be willing to pop
into Blaze and grab our pizzas for us!
Having fun already in Philadelphia :)

Dear Unit 550 Board Members,
The link for your monthly board meetings is pasted below. I set it up as a recurring meeting, so you can use the same link for every meeting and can actually use it anytime you want (not just on the designated meeting dates). Whoever logs on first will be the host for that session unless you want to assign it to someone else during the session.
I set the AI Companion (for notetaking) to start automatically. I did not set it up to automatically record the session but I can do that if you want.
Let me know if you have any questions. I suggest pasting the link into your calendar as part of your appointment information for each meeting. I can send a calendar invitation for a recurring meeting, including the link, to anyone who provides me with an individual email address.

The big news this month is that the John Waken Pasadena Sectional
tournament is ON for 2025. Our tournament dates are *August 23-24*, and
the location will be the Pasadena Bridge Club. See elsewhere in this
issue for a tournament flier.
We plan to hold two matchpoint pairs games on Saturday at 10:00 and
3:00, Each game will have an Open section and a 499er section. Sunday
will feature all-day swiss teams, again with an open section and a 499er
section.
it's a great way to get some silver points! The location has great lunch
options and plenty of parking.
A new Bridge Introduction class is starting on Wednesday evening, July
2, at the Pasadena Bridge Club. This is the course for your friends or
family who haven't yet discovered bridge. Registration is through
Pasadena City College Extension. The link to register online is at the
top of the Pasadena Bridge Club web site: https://pasadenabridgeclub.com.
The Popular Conventions course will be offered on Thursday evenings
starting July 10, and Improving Your Judgment - Doubles will be offered
during the Wednesday afternoon schedule at 3:00 PM starting July 9.
The *bridge club will be closed* for the Bridge Week regional from
Thursday, July 3, through Sunday July 6. Zachary, Mojo, and Lisa all
want to play in the regional! Come say hello to us there.
The bridge club will be offering North American Pairs qualifying games
for a week during each of June, July, and August. Plan to play in any of
the Open Pairs games during the third full week of each month. You can
earn your qualifier to the district final. The NAP flights have been
overhauled this year to make more opportunities for players under 6,000
points! Well worth your time and effort.
On Saturday June 21 we'll be hosting two games for the benefit of
Alzheimer's Association, it's the annual "The Longest Day" event. Card
fee is $13.
And we'll be featuring "club championship" games during the final week
of June. It's a great way to pick up lots of good black masterpoints. No
extra card fee!
Pasadena Unit Games are usually held on the 1st and 3rd Sundays of each
month. The competition is stiff, the pizza is free, and the card fee is
only a nostalgic $10 cash for each event. Note that the unit game *will
not meet on Sunday July 6*. Come back for the game on July 20. Unit game
results are found on the results page for the Pasadena Bridge Club.
Congratulations to our new rank changes for June: Junior Master *Roberta
Preskill*, Club Master *Robert Hunt*, NABC Master *Tracee Dezzutti,*
