There's more information to consider. First, John Coulombe is from San Marcos in northern San Diego county. We're on the hook for mileage (I didn't find out $/mi) and hotel. John has already spent about $200 for a Pasadena hotel room. Either way, this is way below my nightmares of him flying from somewhere. So we may not be looking at as much of a savings as I thought, especially at this point, where he's already spent the hotel money. And again, another cost of switching is that the masterpoint awards get cut to 80% of a full sectional. If we kept our sectional a Championship event, I might suggest hiring Paula (if she's willing) so we have two assistants. That would leave one of us to do things like duplicate boards for the next session (we need four board sets each session!). That would add $400 I think.
