Most of these "gift card" scams are not in the purchase, but are used to
transfer money. An example is when you might get a cry for help from someone you know
asking for gift cards. This is actually a scammer who has stolen your friends identity.
They say they are in a bind somewhere and gift cards are the easiest way to transfer money
to them. Of course, the person asking is not really somebody you know.
I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.

Who did she buy them from? Lots of scams online. Best to purchase gift cards in a
store. Sorry this happened to her. Hopefully she can shut down the credit card used to
buy them as fraud.
