These are notoriously hard to read, but we did quite well.
I'll break it down a little differently so you can see how it all works out.

Good afternoon Mojo,
It was a pleasure to work with you this weekend. You and everyone
treated me like family, and I really appreciate it.
Here is your financial report.
Respectfully,
John
The official director's report makes sense to ACBL accounting, but it's
a jumble of things to make sense of.
I tried doing a restatement of it that matches up with the numbers from
the report.
And it has a nice bottom line. :)
The important thing to note from the original report is that the "MONEY
DUE TO ACBL" is a negative number, which is to say, they will pay the
Unit directly as an EFT.

Tomorrow's club game finishes about 2:15, and at that point the
sectional prep starts.
The housing dept. is closed on Fridays, so we generally have the place
to ourselves.
Things to do:
* Clear out space in the second room
* Set up tables spaced in a careful grid (we'll be measuring)
* Set up supply tables on the sides of the room
* Start the kitchen prep and get all the supplies in there
* In the main room, clearing off the table cloths and bidding boxes
* spacing the tables on an 8-foot grid
* returning the table cloths
* setting up bidding boxes in both rooms
* pencil sharpening
* Bridgemate distribution
For me: Make eight board sets, six for the first session, two for the
second. (I'll make more during lunch for the second session.)
Gloria is bringing signs. I couldn't tell her what we needed exactly,
but now I know it'd be nice to have section signs, i.e., "Section B -->"
down the hall, Sections A and C will be in the main club.
Our director-in-charge will be arriving sometime Friday afternoon, so
we'll be setting up his desk for entry sales, computer, printer (John
are you bringing a printer?), Bridgemate server, etc.
We'll decide how to divvy up the sections and have everything laid out
for Saturday morning.
I'll probably be at the club at 8:30 on Saturday, but if everything
seems ready on Friday night, maybe I'll sleep in an extra half hour. :)
Cheers,
Mojo

Hey board ...
I ordered four pizzas that will be ready for pickup at 11:45. All you
have to do is go down to the oven and look for the stack of four large
pizzas.
In the cabinet to the left of the sink, bottom shelf, there are
condiments to put out: cheese, peppers, oregano, salt and pepper.
In the kitchen drawer there are tongs and knives. There are little
cutting boards in the cabinet, second shelf right.
On the supplies shelving by the white table, there should be lots of
small plates and napkins.
How about it you guys take care of the pizza and utensils while Zachary
does his thing getting the game ready. :)
Best regards,
Mojo

I've started a waiting list for the Saturday 10:00 AM Open Pairs, with
19 tables reserved.
Nancy Lyons and Betsy Josias are on the waiting list.
3:00 PM Saturday has 18.5 tables right now.
I suspect we'll have a cancellation, so it might not matter. I also have
to consider adding a table in the hallway. I'll have to talk to John
Coulombe about that when he's here on Thursday.
(Doing fine in Toronto. Home Monday night.)

Here are the reservation counts:
Saturday 10:00 AM:
Open Pairs 18.5 tables
499er Pairs 7 tables
Saturday 3:00 PM:
Open Pairs 18 tables
499er Pairs 5.5 tables
Sunday 10:00 AM:
Open Pairs 14 tables
499er Pairs 6 tables
Sunday 3:00 PM
Open Pairs 13.5 tables
499er Pairs 5.5 tables
19 tables is my upper limit for the Open Pairs, unless we set up a table
in the hallway, which is something that can be done. I'll do it if I
have to. :)

I have read and absorbed all the various opinions on charging more for non-ACBL members for our sectional.
Our sectional is in 10 days and we did not discuss this before advertising it. In my humble opinion, it is too late to change the parameters, whatever we may FEEL. So i suggest we leave it as it is and next year, that Board can decide what it would like to do and advertise it as such.

Alas I'm unprepared to answer this question!
We should either require ACBL membership, or charge $18 or so for
non-ACBL members.

Hi,
The flyer didn't mention whether or not someone who isn't an ACBL member
can participate in the tournament or not. Please let me know as it
might determine my partner for one of the days.

Besides, if we charge $18 for non-members is that really going to have an effect on our income? You know the answer… Do we need those extra couple of dollars at the cost of being non-welcoming? If the board votes to charge extra for non-members please send me the bill and I will send you a check for the amount of the overage, but Friends, let’s not be petty.
Roy
I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.
Does the flyer need to be updated?

Well there's the matter of entering your ACBL Player Number on the entry or into the Bridgemate, and the director's member database will be current.

All the Tournaments I’ve been to charge a $4 fee for non ACBL members, but how do they know unless the person is honest upfront, as you aren’t required to prove it when you register.
