Hi all!
I've always advised my students that the best way to get better at
bridge is to play as often as you can.
Sometimes that's a difficult thing to arrange! As a new player you don't
want to immediately be "out of your depth." The online bridge games can
be quite intimidating and unfamiliar. While the duplicate games at the
Bridge Center are quite fun, maybe that's a little too competitive for
you. Yet still you need three other like-minded players.
I'm doing two things that I hope will make it easier for my students to
get together to play and practice.
1. I've created a new email list called "social(a)bridgemojo.com" where
the intent is to be able to chat with other students, organize social
bridge games, and even discuss bridge questions and hands.
My intent is that the members of the email list will all be local
(Pasadena area), and all students from my bridge classes. Everyone
should pretty much know everyone, and the list should stay small and
friendly.
I also don't mind welcoming students and beginners from other bridge
programs, but I will adjust that policy according to the feeling of the
group.
2. The second thing I would like to do is create a closed Facebook group
with the same intent as the email list. If you've been assimilated into
Facebook with all your friends and family, you may find that it's a
better place than email to organize and discuss things.
So if either of these interest you, here's the thing to do:
To join the email list, either send me a reply to this note, or visit
the list page here and sign yourself up:

If you prefer the Facebook group, (I'm not positive about this) you need
to "friend" me on Facebook (Morris Jones, Monrovia, mojo(a)whiteoaks.com)
and I will invite you to join the group.
And finally -- if the occasional announcement related to bridge classes
no longer interests you, drop me a note and I'll happily take care of it. :)
(For those who are curious, Bridge II is still scheduled to being April
11. I'll send that announcement separately.)
Best regards,
Mojo
