Wednesday bridge games
by Morris Jones 16 Dec '20

16 Dec '20

Wednesday is one of our two busiest days (for games at least!). For these games I am asking for reservations. I'd like to be sure we have enough players for a game, and do my best to find partners. Who's coming to play Wednesday? Who'd like to play but needs a partner? * 10:45 a.m. 499er (0-500) pairs * 7:30 p.m. Open pairs We also have a newcomer game at 7:15. I'll send that announcement to the newcomer list. Thursday starts the "Winter Wonderland" schedule of Regionally rated games on BBO. If you're looking for Gold and Red points, here's a chance to get some this year. Drop in at https://www.acbl.org for the full schedule. I'm planning to play a couple of side games at least with Karol Monroe from Palm Desert. Hope to see you there! P.S., Hotmail (MSN) has begun bouncing email from my new mail server. Hopefully they'll resolve the problem before Saturday. I've done everything I can at this point, and it will probably wait for a human review before the roadblock is resolved. New servers have no reputation yet. :( Best regards, Mojo -- Morris Jones, Monrovia, CA BridgeMojo <http://bridgemojo.com> Old Town Sidewalk Astronomers <http://otastro.org> Mojo's Blog <http://mojo.whiteoaks.com>

Free bridge class/party tonight
by Morris Jones 15 Dec '20

15 Dec '20

I just completed a class with PCC Extension on "Competitive Bidding" last week on Tuesday evening. I have a stack of eight hands left from the class to play and practice with, so I'm offering that for a couple of hours this evening, starting at 7:15. If you're looking for a little informal bridge, here's an invitation to come play. We'll meet on Zoom, and play cards using the Shark Bridge teaching platform. After each hand we'll review the bidding and play. If you'd like to join us, drop me a note and I'll forward the invitation with the Zoom and Shark links. :) (If you've never joined one of my bridge classes, take five minutes to watch one of the videos from the page How to join bridge class <https://bridgemojo.com/how-to-join-class-online> from the BridgeMojo site.) Sunday bridge plus link to Sat mini lesson
by Morris Jones 13 Dec '20

13 Dec '20

Did I mention I'd built a new email server? It had to be done. Part of the cost was having all of my email to Verizon customers delayed for almost 24 hours. That includes Yahoo and AOL mail accounts as well. :( When a machine at a new internet address appears on the net sending email in bunches (as if from a mailing list), they automatically put that machine on probation until someone can check it out. I had hopes that wouldn't happen. My previous mail server had a well-protected "reputation" as a good email citizen. But they wouldn't know. In any case, the logjam appears to be broken now. We had a great turnout for the Saturday games! The 9:30 lesson from this morning has been added to the YouTube playlist of Saturday mini lessons. Here's a link to the whole list: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLD5qT1hFf-OreW5_zBRHB3WwF6Ljdp-OS We have a great *Sunday Open Pairs game at 12:30*. If you'd like to play but need a partner, drop me a note. If you have a friend or family who you'd like to have join in, let me know their BBO ID so I can set it up. Saturday bridge games
by Morris Jones 12 Dec '20

12 Dec '20

Saturdays are busy at PPDVBC! * 9:30 a.m. Free bridge mini-lesson on Zoom (see below) * 10:00 a.m. 0-500 (499er) Pairs game * 12:30 p.m. Open Pairs There's also a newcomer game starting at 12:20 -- see the newcomer list for information about that game. Here's information for the 9:30 mini-lesson on Zoom: Topic: Bridge mini lesson Time: Dec 12, 2020 09:30 AM Pacific Time (US and Canada) Join Zoom Meeting https://us02web.zoom.us/j/83912578991?pwd=Y1R2UnJ1TFM2dVZzYmsyTDdzeFcydz09 Meeting ID: 839 1257 8991 Passcode: 7ntxx Finally, I've been working on a replacement email server for the past several weeks. My old mail server was virtually unmaintainable, and sadly out of date in terms of security and current practices. Because my new mail server is, well, new, it's treated suspiciously by many of the large email companies (like Verizon / Yahoo / AOL). So this email may have been delayed a bit on its way to you. I'm doing the best I can to keep everything on the up-and-up and get back in their good graces. :) Best regards, Mojo -- Morris Jones, Monrovia, CA BridgeMojo <http://bridgemojo.com> Old Town Sidewalk Astronomers <http://otastro.org> Mojo's Blog <http://mojo.whiteoaks.com>
