A Bit of History
In 1999, the year before I retired, I wanted to learn how to build websites, so I bought a book and an old second hand computer that used the Linux operatng system. After a lot of failures I managed to get
RoyWilson.net
up and running.... and it's still up today! I asked the unit board if they would like a website, and they said, "Sure, as long as it doesn't cost anything!" So, I own it but I limit the site to bridge topics and let the board put announcements here.
In 2016 I finally learned how to add a counter to keep tabs on how many players visit this site... (I'm a bit slow, but I get there!) Friends, as I write this, the total number is very close to 1,000,000 ! Very soon we will go over that awsome number. (You
can check the number at the top-right side of the screen, or you will find it very close to the bottom on the left side.)
Friends, I am now 90 years old... Unless someone replaces me, this website will go away soon. I am quite willing to teach someone to be the webmaster, but the qualifications are not easy... you will have to be a bridge player, and either know HTML code or
be willing to learn it, and some knowledge of the Linux operating system - and it really helps to have some writing ability. I will volunteer to teach you, and I think we can get the Unit Board to buy you a new webserver - but we will have to install Linux.
