Pasadena San Gabriel Unit
The unit was saddened this past month by the death of our long time friend, supporter, and great bridge player, Peter Szesci. Peter was a constant presence and supporter of the unit. He spent many years on the unit board, including, I think, every officer position.
In Peter's honor, the Over-Under game will be known as the Peter Szesci Over-Under game.
I'll never forget the time Peter called me on the phone before an earlier Over-Under game years ago. "Hello Morris? This is Peter Szesci. Do you know me?" Everyone knew Peter. He was calling to ask if I would play as a mentor in the game, and of course I did.
If you're a non-Life Master, under 500 masterpoints, you can join us at the Peter Szesci Memorial Over-Under game this month, on Sunday, July 23, at the Arcadia Bridge Center.
Reservations are required! You can register online by visiting the web site for the Pasadena Bridge Club, and click on the Over/Under game link near the top of the page. You can also email to mojo@pasadenabridgeclub.com or phone (626) 247-4457. (Here's the registration link: https://pasadenabridgeclub.com/contact/over_under_game ) Reservations must be received by July 18.
At 12:30, all partnerships will be formed by a random draw, and you'll have some time to meet your mentor or mentee. Junior players are encouraged to bring a favorite convention card, if they have one. All of the mentor players will play your card. (This isn't the time to learn a new convention!) The game will begin shortly after, probably about 12:50.
The Over-Under game will be our only unit game this month. Hopefully you'll join us in Long Beach at the regional!
