Hey unit board and friends,
You'll want to set up the bridge club for the sectional on the
evening of Friday, August 22. Since it requires quite a bit of
hefting and rearranging, I'm copying Milo in the hopes they'll be
available to help out. (Milo you might even ask Aiden to come help.)
The community room might be in use on Friday during the day, so
there's no guarantee that you'll be able to get in before the early
evening. You can start on the main bridge club before then. I'll
cancel "social bridge" for Friday afternoon.
In the main bridge club, we need to reconfigure the room from 11
tables to 14 tables by re-inserting the fourth row of tables. This
is generally the way to accomplish it:
- It's much easier to measure and place the tables when they
don't have tablecloths, bidding boxes, and chairs in the way. So
my procedure would be to set aside the bidding boxes and table
cloths in the classroom, along with stacking and moving any
chairs out of the way. Corner tables might not get too much in
the way.
- Place an anchor table near the timing clock. Give it adequate
space from the window and supply table.
- Use the long tape measure, and place three additional tables
in line away from the windows, toward the PA. Space them edge to
edge at exactly eight feet.
- Use the long tape measure, and place three tables along the
windows on an 8'0 spacing, toward the director's desk.
- Fill in the grid, lining up tables with the base row and
column. Tables should match up in line.
- Replace tablecloths, chairs, bidding boxes, and side tables.
(Do quality control on the bid boxes and tablecloths.)
After doing this, along the windows will be four tables, the next
row five, the two rows of three. Adjust the placement of the
director's desk if you need to. (You probably won't.)
Move the coat rack out of the club and into the lobby space.
Empty the "lost and found" and use the corner tables. Move the
rolling white board out to the lobby for Brandon to use.
In the Community Room, you'll do the same thing, with four rows
of three tables (12 total), but you should have room to use 8'6"
spacing from edge to edge. Set up chairs and bidding boxes.
In the lobby, you'll set up a desk for Brandon. Take an extension
cord from the kitchen, and route it from the wall socket near the
window, above the bridge club doors, to the right of the bridge
club. Secure it with duct tape. Use one of the long folding tables
from the community room for Brandon's desk.
There should be plenty of bidding boxes, bridgemates, pencils, etc.
We'll need to sharpen up a bunch more pencils.
I'll ask Brandon to bring a spare round timer for the community
room.
Here's the final word: Friday August 22 is my second chemo infusion
date. I have no idea what condition I'll be in, but assume I won't
be available.
Cheers,
Mojo
