As in any bridge game, cheating in online bridge is prohibited. Do not share any private information about your hand with your partner or anyone else. Discussion via phone, video, in person or any other means is not allowed.
When you play on BBO, every call and every play are recorded. If you cheat online, you will get caught! In addition to player reports by Bridge Base Online, there are automatic surveillance tools to alert the game operators of potential cheating. If a player is found to be cheating in an ACBL-sanctioned game, the club will bar that player from BBO. In addition, the player may be subject to discipline under the ACBL Code of Disciplinary Regulations. Both ACBL and BBO are doing everything possible to maintain the integrity of these online games so that honest players can be confident of a fair contest.
I only have one concern. How does the system control against the potential for cheating?

Dave White has been working to get all of District 23's bridge clubs represented online with BBO. They have several games online now serving the Santa Clarita and Glendale units.
The existing sanction holders in Pasadena, Downey, and Pomona units generally aren't equipped to offer a virtual bridge club -- Downey and Pomona barely have enough players.
Dave is working with headquarters, and made the suggestion to create a new virtual bridge club that would offer games for the benefit of these three units. He asked me to be the club manager. (I have already been directing games on BBO for him and Paula.)
I don't know if they will streamline the approval process for a new sanction. If not, I assume it will need approval from all three unit boards in some form to waive the 30-day waiting period for a new club sanction.
I'm attaching a draft copy of my sanction application here. I'm calling it the "Pasadena Pomona Downey VBC" (virtual bridge club).
The game scheduling will be a little haphazard, and very much under control of BBO. I'll propose games at 11:30 on Monday and Wednesday, and a limited game at 7:00 p.m. Monday.
