Saturday, June 20, is "the longest day," the day with the most hours
of daylight, marking the beginning of the summer season.
It's also when the ACBL holds its annual benefit for the Alzheimer's
Association. All ACBL sanction fees this weekend are donated
to Alzheimer's. This year ACBL is being joined by Bridge Base
Online, and your local "virtual bridge club" directors are
volunteering their time as well.
Our virtual bridge club, the Pasadena Pomona Downey VBC, will be
holding bridge marathons on Saturday and Sunday, June 20-21,
to help raise money for the Alzheimer's Association.
Each day five Open Pairs games will be offered, at 8:10 a.m., 10:10
a.m., 1:10 p.m., 3:10 p.m., and 5:10 p.m.
Each day four Limited Pairs games will be offered as well: 0-300
Pairs at 9:10 a.m. and 2:10 p.m., and 0-750 pairs at 11:40 a.m. and
4:40 p.m.
Card fees for these benefit games are just $5 each. Masterpoint
awards will be 200% of normal club rated games and paid in black
points.
Special series tournaments: We plan to offer an additional
award for players who enter more than one event. Combine your two
best percentages to qualify for a series award! There are four
series to enter: Saturday Open, Sunday Open, 0-300 series, and 0-750
series.
All games will be offered on Bridge Base Online https://www.bridgebase.com
in the ACBL Virtual Club section. Look for the Pasadena Pomona
Downey VBC in the upcoming events. All ACBL members who played
in clubs in Units 559 (Pasadena / San Gabriel), 551 (Pomona /
Covina), and 564 (Downey Whittier) are automatically eligible to
play. If you would like to play with a guest from outside these
clubs, please make a reservation for your partner by email to mojo@bridgemojo.com.
