Thank you all for playing in the Saturday games! I'm going to let
the results stand on their own for now.
Some BBO Virtual Club players have discovered an interesting tip for
getting into games for free. I thought I'd share it with you.
Just before my afternoon game was ready to go live, with
five-and-a-half tables, I had private messages from THREE players
offering to fill my half table for me.
This is a great bonus to me. Filling a half-table with substitutes
is one of the most difficult and random chores for a BBO director.
Sometimes the best I can hope for is "english speaking" substitutes.
When qualified players volunteer ahead of time, it makes everything
quick and smooth.
Now that you realize that, you can take advantage! Take a look under
the "All Tournaments" heading under Competitive. If you see a
tournament starting up soon with an odd number of entries, click on
the Host name "vacb######" by the tournament, and send them an offer
to play.
Your partner may be someone random, but I've had some really good
games and met some wonderful folks filling in at clubs around the
country.
When you're invited in to fill a table, the game is free. You're
still eligible for masterpoints!

I'm teaching an online bridge class in the morning, and hosting a
Zoom seminar at 3:30. I'm planning to show my students how to play
with friends and robots on BBO. Just for fun.
