Tuesday we had a nice four-table game at 11:00. Winners were Joe
Viola and Gerry Geremiah. But look at this strong 2nd place by
relative newcomers Sarah Deschenes and Kim Ebner, with 57%!
We'll be playing The Common Game hands today at 11:00. Come play if
you can!
I'm having good luck with online bridge classes. For now I'm
doing small semi-private lessons for groups of four. I have a plan
for doing larger groups, including holding mini-practice games for
newcomers. That will take some time to get organized.
I just added a picture of my "mission control" center for bridge
class, complete with my "quarantine hair" and a Kung Fu Panda III
poster in the background: https://bridgemojo.com/class
Be careful with claims: I was watching the end of a hand
yesterday, waiting to see when the round changes. The opponents were
taking their last trick to set the contract. Before the last card to
the setting trick was played, declarer claimed the rest of the
tricks. The opponents graciously accepted the claim.
The claim managed to pull in that incomplete trick, so the board was
recorded as "making" instead of "-1." Luckily I had noticed what
happened, and was able to adjust the result. I let the players know
what had happened.
