Just keeping in touch! I have two games on the Thursday schedule: 1:00 p.m. and 7:15 p.m. This is our only Open evening game at the moment.

I know I have a few players who are excited about this weekend's "bridge marathon" to benefit Alzheimer's Association on The Longest Day. The schedule is posted on the website, and includes five open games and four limited games on both Saturday and Sunday.

There was an interesting hand that went by in a recent game.

Two of the five South players opted to open the South hand 2. I can understand why not -- it violates a few principles of preemptive bidding, like having more high-card points outside the suit than in. It does offer about 4-1/2 playing tricks, and the heart suit is rich with good spot cards.

Of the two who opened the South hand in hearts, only one North player took the jump to 4
and found the successful sacrifice.

Four tables played in 3NT making four or five, one played in 4
X down one for a top board.

Looking forward to spending the weekend playing bridge with all of our friends!

Best regards,
Mojo
