Thank you all for supporting The Longest Day events! I know it was an ambitious offering on my part, but it was painless to offer. It will take some time to do the accounting for the event, but I'll pad the donation up to a good even number. I believe we will have raised a good donation to Alzheimer's Association. I'll post more results, including the series winners, tomorrow morning.

Tonight (Sunday night) the ACBL and BBO are going to purge the guest list of all the virtual clubs for a "fresh start" on the guest list for clubs.

As a result, if you're planning to play with a guest player from outside the Pasadena/Pomona/Downey unit clubs, you'll need to request to have them added back to the guest list for specific games. They are working to keep the number of guest players around 5%. (We were at 10% this past Saturday!)

If you're a newer player who might not have a clear club connection, there's a possibility you may get caught up in the purge as well. Please try to register a bit early for your games this week so the director will have time to resolve any issues!

This Thursday through Sunday , June 25-28, is the Endless Summer Tournament offered by the ACBL. It's a chance to win red and gold masterpoints! There's a full schedule of games for all levels of play, including some great 99er and 499er tournaments. You can see the daily schedule here: https://web2.acbl.org/documentLibrary/play/ESSchedule.pdf Take note that the times in the schedule are Eastern Daylight Time -- subtract three hours for Pacific time.

(I want to play any and all events, and my dance card is empty! Please invite me to play. :) )

With all the great events available, I'm currently planning to close the Pasadena Pomona Downey VBC over the weekend of June 27-28. (You can change my mind if enough people really want to play these games instead of the big tournament games. :) )

I believe I can now settle on a regular weekly schedule for PPDVBC aside from special events. This is my plan going forward. I'll be updating the web site today:
Open games: Tuesday - Wednesday 11:00 a.m., Saturday - Sunday, 12:30 p.m. (Closed June 27-28)
Limited games: 0-1000 Monday 7:15 p.m., 0-500 Saturday 10:00 a.m.
Finally I have this great tip from Dave White for finding your games in the list of BBO virtual club games:

Add the game host VACB277210 to your follow list.

To do that: Click on the host name VACB277210 which will pop up a profile box. Where it says "Relationship: Neutral" change Neutral to Follow. Then when you see a list of virtual club games, the hosts you follow will have highlighting, like this:

VACB277210

Nice huh?

Off-topic: It's a clear dark night with no moon tonight, and I'm planning to spend some of it doing some astronomy. I love this picture I captured last week. Messier 106 is a spiral galaxy in Canes Venatici, with lots of nearby galaxies keeping it company in the sky. Not bad from Monrovia:
