We have a nice game going on right now, and another one tomorrow at
11:00 a.m.
I wrote a feature for the web site that might help you if you've had
trouble with your chat window disappearing. See my article Where
did my chat window go?
In a couple of weeks we're about to have our annual fund raiser for
the Alzheimer Association, The Longest Day.
The date is always set to align near the first day of summer,
literally the day of the year that's the longest from sunrise to
sunset. It's a cause near and dear to bridge players. This year I
believe they're holding the event over the weekend of June 20-21,
but it's a little hard to find information on acbl.org.
I've always imagined that day (or perhaps weekend in this case) of
being a day for bridge marathons. Play all day, as many games as you
can. One dollar from every entry fee (the ACBL's sanction fee) would
go to the Alzheimer Association.
I'm thinking of offering games every two hours on BBO, interleaved
with limited games -- say, Open games at 10, Noon, 2, 4, 6, and
limited games (0-300 or 0-500) at 11, 1, 3, 5, or something like
that. We could make them all 12-board games, or 18 boards if we fit
it within two hours. I'll have to see what the masterpoint awards
will be like. (Normally they require 18 boards to get the full
rating.)
I'm just thinking out loud at this point, but it's a worthy cause.
Let me know what you think!
