Tonight is our popular 0-1000 Monday night game! Come join the gang for
a start time of 7:15.
* 7:15 0-1000 Pairs
We play a slightly speedier game in the evenings, 6 minutes a board.
That's usually a good thing. :)
What happens if you *don't finish a board* and the round changes? If
enough tricks have been played so a result can be determined, the hand
is turned over to the BBO robots to decide the result
If not enough tricks have been played, it's usually impossible for me to
tell exactly how many tricks declarer might take. At that point, I will
take a look at the table history. If I see that one pair has used
significantly more time than the other pair, I will usually assign a
40% score to the offending pair, and a 60% score to the faster pair.
So keep that in mind if you up most of you clock time on the first
board! It may cost you for the second one. :)
*Partners guaranteed!* If you don't have a partner, I can join the game
with you, and sub myself out for someone from the substitute list.
Best regards,
Mojo

We're holding games on our regular schedule for this weekend, but it's a
special award event for all ACBL Virtual Club games. All games pay
*double point*s and 50% will be red points, normally only available at
regional tournaments. No extra card fee for this weekend's games, just
extra awards and bigger games!
* 9:30 a.m. Saturday bridge mini lesson (see link below)
* 10:00 a.m. 0-500 Pairs
* 12:30 p.m. Open Pairs
Here's the Zoom link for tomorrow morning's mini lesson. I'm going to
introduce a play concept that you don't hear about a lot, the "strip and
endplay." It's easier to understand than you might think!

Right now I'm dashing to Target to get a replacement WiFi router. My
existing one died yesterday afternoon. I'm running games from a WiFi
hotspot on my phone right now, but I need my full bandwidth for classes
later today.
Wish me luck! :)

Tonight:
* 7:15 0-1000 Pairs
Let me know if you have a friend from out of town who'd like to play, or
if you're looking for a partner.
A couple of days ago I received rank changes for Unit 559, and was
delighted to discover two brand new *Life Masters* in the Pasadena San
Gabriel unit:
* Lawrence "Mike" Newman (Pomona70)
* Marianne Newman (Pomona48)
These special folks have been anchors for the Unit for many years,
providing support and assistance for unit games and sectionals, and
always bringing light and smiles to the bridge game.
Congratulations!
(Back when I first got my Life Master certificate, a good bridge friend
introduced me to some unfamiliar bridge players as, "This is Mojo, he's
new to Flight B." Kind of reminded me that there was more game to discover!)

Hi all, I just received an email from our unit webmaster Roy Wilson (for
Pasadena San Gabriel) that our unit web site is temporarily, but
hopefully not permanently, offline. He had to change his IP address, and
he's hoping to get some support from his ISP this week.
Roy also reports that the Bridge Center in Arcadia is closed again, with
no indication of when it might reopen. (They had been holding some games
weekly with reservations.)
More news soon, as it becomes available!
