Most of you have discovered the pleasures of playing bridge. Online bridge has been especially valuable for Jane and me during this year. I can't help but think bridge provided similar solace during its heyday in the 1930s and '40s.

For those of you still thinking of taking up bridge, or have friends who would like to learn, I'm planning to offer as many cycles of Bridge 1 as the calendar allows for the remainder of the year.

With that in mind, my friend Karol Monroe has invited me to teach a series of bridge classes for newcomers to the game, starting one week from today.

Bridge 101 — An Introduction
