Online bridge courses
As promised, I've put together a slate
of three online bridge courses for September and
October.
Learning online can seriously advance
your skills — often more effectively than in-person
classes. With the tools I have at hand, you are better
able to visualize and take advantage of card play and
positions.
If you're thinking about getting back
into the game, or want to build on your understanding of
Standard American bidding, try the Bridge Basics Refresh
course!
If you're playing duplicate games in
the club or online, the tools in the Competitive Bidding
course can seriously improve your results.
If you've been playing Standard
American for a while, think about taking the next step.
2 over 1 Game Force is the bidding system based on
5-card majors that's most popular with experienced
players.
Bridge Basics
Refresh
Let's back up to the basics of the
constructive auction using the Standard American
5-card Major bidding system. We'll cover notrump,
major suit, and minor suit openings and responses, and
we'll revisit the Stayman and Jacoby Transfer Bid
conventions.
Monday evenings, 6:30 p.m., starting
September 13.
Competitive Bidding
This course is especially valuable if you're playing
duplicate bridge in the clubs or online. Here you'll
acquire tools for competing in the auction when the
opponents have opened the bidding. Remember — the object
of the game is to get the best score, not make contracts!
Tuesday evenings, 6:30 p.m., starting September 14.
2 over 1 Game Force
2/1GF is the most popular and successful
bidding system used by experienced players in clubs and
tournament play. By making one small tweak to your
familiar 5-card major system, you will gain an advantage
in finding slams and your best game contracts.
Sunday afternoons, 4:00 p.m., starting
September 19.
