Hi, everyone, I have a proposal which should be very inexpensive. Every month Marie and I get a membership report from the ACBL. Part of that information is the names of new players who have joined our unit and also the names of players who have transferred into our unit. You can imagine how difficult it might be for these players to find a new partner. I propose that we appoint someone as Ambassador to contact them and offer to play with them as a means to help them find a regular partner. The cost? How about we pay the Ambassador’s card fees? Or, we might ask Diane if she would be willing to waive the cost. Would it be too much to offer a free play one time for the new player? I have a person in mind, too. Gloria Rommel has been a member of our unit for over 25 years, but shortly after she became a Life Master she quit playing. She never lost her interest, though, and has recently returned to the game as a fill-in at the Bridge Center. I asked if she would be willing to take this position and she was enthusiastic about it. Are we? Aye or Nay? I vote aye. Roy Wilson I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.
Awesome, idea. Roy. Way to go. Such a positive idea! Love it.

We might also ask for volunteers who would also be willing to play with a newcomer or partner with them.

I used to do that a long time ago for Diane when there were more games, but now with only 5 games....I have partners for all of them. I used to really enjoy filling in!! On Sat, Nov 6, 2021 at 7:59 AM janet wickersham <wickershamjanet@gmail.com> wrote:

Great thought, Roy. Definitely pay the Ambassador’s card fees. I love this proposal. Some of the newer players coming from MoJo can feel intimidated coming into the open game. This might be a way to encourage them to come. I would volunteer to be a fill in as well. As Linda said, it was fun to meet new partners. Lisa Sent from my iPad

Yes. This would be a great source of new perspectives and any concerns that could help in future planning.
