Please review for corrections and omissions! What did I leave out? ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Pasadena San Gabriel Unit Save the date! The unit *holiday party* will be held on *Sunday, December 10*, at the beautiful Arcadia Community Center. Lunch and dessert will be served. This year we're expecting delicious catering of tacos and treats, and we're lowering the cost to $30 per player. At this fee, the unit expects to spend a bit more than we'll take in, and that will be our holiday gift to the members. Of course there will be a bridge game, and it will be a Sectional Tournament at Clubs game! We'll be sending a flier for the holiday party with more information sometime in the next few weeks by email, and look for fliers posted at the Arcadia Bridge Center and the Pasadena Bridge Club. Advance ticket purchase and reservations are required, so we can plan how much food and beverage to provide. Miriam Harrington will be taking reservations, or talk to any board member. Our next unit games will be held on *November 5* at the Pasadena Bridge Club and *November 19* at the Arcadia Bridge Center. Game time is 12:30. Reservations are required! Courses coming up at the Pasadena Bridge Club include *Two over one game force* on Wednesday evenings starting November 8, and *Popular Conventions* on Thursday evenings starting November 30. New Roster

Hello, friends, As you know, Kathy, Marie and Mary Downey have been working on a new roster for us, but unfortunately Mary will not be available for some time, and neither Marie nor Kathy know how to format the roster for submission to a printer. I have done it numerous times, but to tell the truth I really don’t want to do it again! I propose that I create a printable version of the membership roster on our website. This is updated monthly by the ACBL. That way, any member who wants or needs it can always print an up-to-date copy. There are a number of benefits for this idea…. First is the savings in printer cost, which is several thousand dollars every two years, and since the roster is printed in two year intervals, they soon becomes obsolete. Finally, making a new one every two years is a lot of work! Let’s make this change and never publish another roster. I would like one request, though, if you accept this idea…. long ago the board voted to allow me to play for free in the unit games, which I greatly appreciate! Might I have that privilege be granted to my partner-of-the-day also? I’ve played bridge more than half my life. The lesser half I wasted.

Mary Downey

I just spoke with Mary Falvey who informed me that Mary Downey fell in her home earlier and broke her hack. She is in Huntington Hospital Rm E532. Can the board send her flowers since she has done a lot of work non gratis for the board?
